I have this consistently. I have to add an old networking card to access updates etc. Since no regressions are allowed between releases, it is also being proposed as a blocker for this release. I’m getting this bug on Ubuntu Hardy Alpha5.

As soon as ‘autoneg off’ is passed to ethtool the NIC goes offline. Add an attachment proposed patch, testcase, etc.
