In any case, once the card goes into surround40 mode, the sound is controlled as follows:. I’m using a stereo reciever and speakers, and there is a huge amount of bass distortion. Just sound on the back speakers. I can adjust the volume of my rear speakers, my front speakers, my center speaker, all seperately.

What is the best solution to have sound on my system again with this version of the alsa drivers? It is known to work not every mixer app suports alsa correctly – for example some sets both zudigy and playback volume at one time making recording hard. Seems like a buggy driver for the surround for my SounBlaster Live! This is a weird problem I’ve been having since I started using Linux Mandrake 9.
